Good deal on a tent

I was looking for a new tent and compared prices across a few sites. Backcountry had a good sale on the model I wanted. Got it for about 25% off. Free shipping over $50 helped too. Felt like I got a solid deal, worth the purchase for sure.

Always reliable gear

I ordered another pair of hiking boots, the same brand I got last year. Consistency is key, and Backcountry delivers every time. Shipping was fast like usual, got here in three days. That's why I keep coming back for my outdoor stuff.

Jacket order and shipping experience

I bought a new rain jacket from Backcountry a few weeks ago. The ordering process was straightforward on their website; easy to navigate and find what I needed. Delivery took about 5 business days, which was within their estimated window. The jacket itself is good quality, exactly as described. I had a quick question about sizing before I bought, and their customer service (I think they call them Gearheads) responded pretty fast to my email. Overall, a smooth purchase from start to finish. Happy with the product and the service.

Got my new bike helmet

Needed a new bike helmet and grabbed one from here. It came pretty fast, like four days, which was nice. Fits great, feels solid. Nothing fancy to report, just a good experience. Would buy from them again when I need more gear.

is backcountry legit? seeing some good deals but wanna make sure it's not some sketchy site selling fakes.

S Sarah Romero 2 months ago

Totally legit, man. Been buying from them for years. They're a well-known outdoor retailer, definitely not selling fakes.

100% legit. They're an authorized dealer for North Face and other big brands. They've been around forever, definitely not a scam.

What's their return policy like? Bought some hiking boots but they feel a bit off, might need to send them back.

J June Bennett 2 months ago

Returns are pretty straightforward. I sent back a jacket that didn't fit, and they provide a shipping label. I think as long as it's not used gear, you're good.

yeah returns were easy, did it last month. just don't try to return something you've already taken on a thru-hike haha. new condition is key.

quick question about the 20% off coupon. does that apply to like, everything, or are there some brands it excludes? hoping to use it on a Patagonia jacket.

P Paula H. 2 months ago

Nah, usually Patagonia and some other premium brands are excluded from those general 20% off codes. It'll say in the fine print. Happens a lot with those types of brands.

yeah it's usually just for full-priced stuff and often has brand exclusions. I tried using it on a YETI cooler once and it didn't work.

hey, anyone ordered a tent from backcountry to NYC recently? just wondering about shipping times, need it for a trip next week.

D Daisy Whitfield 2 months ago

Mine got here (Brooklyn) in about 4 days, I picked the standard free shipping since my order was over $50. I think they ship from Utah.

S Shane Vargas 2 months ago

Yeah, if it's over fifty bucks, shipping is usually pretty quick. I think you should be good for next week if you order soon. I got some boots last month and they came in like 3-4 days.

how does backcountry compare to REI for gear? trying to decide where to get a new backpack.

C Cody 3 months ago

Both are solid. Backcountry often has slightly better deals on specific items, especially with their outlet or steep & cheap sections. REI's membership benefits are good too, but for just a one-off purchase, BC can be cheaper.

I've bought from both a lot. Backcountry sometimes has more niche stuff and their Gearheads are super helpful for recommendations. REI has that dividend thing if you're a member, which is cool. Just compare prices for the specific pack you want.
